dc.description.abstractThe present research work entitled "Importance of teaching strategies and materials for the development of the notion of number in 4 and 5 year old boys and girls of the IEI “Santa Ana” of Tusi, Daniel Alcides Carrión province, Pasco" addresses a fundamental topic in early education. At this stage, the construction of the notion of number constitutes one of the pillars of cognitive development in children, and its adequate understanding will lay the foundations for future mathematical learning. The report explores pedagogical strategies and teaching materials as key elements that promote a meaningful learning experience tailored to the needs of younger students. The work analyzes how the use of concrete teaching materials, stories such as tokens, blocks and abacuses, facilitates the association between quantities and numerical symbols in children. Likewise, it highlights the role of playful and participatory strategies, such as play and exploration, in the consolidation of this knowledge. These methodologies not only facilitate the teaching of abstract concepts, but also stimulate children's interest and motivation, which is essential for effective learning at an early age. The work presented not only addresses the importance of educational innovation in the teaching of mathematics, but also highlights the cultural wealth of the Huayllay community, showing that ancestral educational practices have the potential to transform viii the process of teaching-learning. This study was carried out at the IEI “Santa Ana” in Tusi, an institution that, like many others in rural contexts, faces limitations in access to adequate teaching materials and resources. Through this report, we seek not only to understand the local educational reality, but also to provide practical recommendations that allow teachers to improve the teaching of the notion of number and strengthen the comprehensive development of students
